Dumitru Mîțu
Praised for his “thrilling tenor voice with both lyrical beauty and dramatic power” (Opera Today), Moldovan tenor Dumitru Mîțu is rapidly emerging as a dynamic presence on the international opera stage.
Recent and current highlights include Grigoriy Boris Godunov at Dutch National Opera, Pinkerton Madama Butterfly at Estonian National Opera and Bucharest National Opera, and Victorin Die tote Stadt at Bergen National Opera.
At the Bucharest National Opera, he has sung Lensky Eugene Onegin, Alfredo La traviata, and Pinkerton Madama Butterfly. He has also appeared as Don José Carmen at the Latvian National Opera, Iași National Opera, and the National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Maria Bieșu" in Chișinău, where his repertoire also includes Alfredo La traviata, Vaudémont Iolanta, and Lensky Eugene Onegin. His concert work includes Stabat Mater at the Berliner Philharmonie.
A graduate of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chișinău, Mîțu was a member of the Young Artists Opera Program of the Bolshoi Theatre and has been a soloist with the National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Maria Bieșu" since 2017. He is the recipient of several international distinctions, including 3rd Prize at Neue Stimmen 2022, and the Emmerich Smola Förderpreis at SWR Junge Opernstars 2023.
