Tenor Aaron J. McInnis was born in 2000 in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. As a young artist, Aaron participated in programs such as the Washington National Opera Institute, the Austrian American Mozart Academy, the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, and as a guest in Opera San Antonio's Apprentice Artist Program. His first professional engagement was in the small role of Nathanaël in Offenbach's Les contes d'Hoffmann with the Pacific Northwest Opera in his home state of Washington. He later made his debuts with the same opera company as Pong in Puccini's Turandot and as Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata.
In 2022, Aaron began his collaboration with the Vienna State Opera, singing roles such as Un Pastore and Uno Spirito in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo. For his performance, he was praised by Olyrix as a "young talent" with a nuanced voice and "dense timbre." In 2023, Aaron made his Belgian debut as Rinuccio in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi at the Zomeropera Alden Biesen Festival, where he will return in 2024 as Alfredo in La Traviata. Most recently, he performed as Pong in Turandot at the Teatro Verdi Trieste.
In addition to opera, Aaron has also performed in early and modern oratorio repertoire, including tenor soloist in Handel's Messiah, Luke in Haydn's The Seasons, and Peter in Gardner's Lamb of God. Aaron is the winner of the 2017 Schmidt National Vocal Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the 2018 Bellingham Symphony Concerto Competition.
